When disaster strikes, FDR mobilizes funding + resources for local communities to organize supplies and establish aid distribution centers as quickly as possible. FDR equips local ministers with crisis training to readily deliver the peace and hope of Christ amidst tragedy + destruction. Childcare for families impacted by natural disaster
Families impacted by natural disaster can register for free childcare assistance supported by Foursquare Disaster Relief. Drop-ins are welcome as space allows. Care is available M-F 7:30 am to 5:30 pm and other hours by request. Families can register quickly online. Processing is done is sometimes the same day. Placement is available on a first come first serve basis as space allows. REGISTRATION LINK.
prepared meals for children
Children up to 7 years old from families impacted by natural disaster can receive up to three prepared free meals per day Monday- Friday. Breakfast is served at 8 am. Lunch is served at 11:30 am. Dinner is at 5:30 pm.
infant, toddler, and child clothing and bedding
Any family impacted from a natural disaster can visit Pulse of Life Church for access to visa card vouchers for child needs, infant products, crib sheets, blankets, new infant clothing, and vouchers toward a car seat or pack n play.
the baby closet
The Baby Closet at Faith Fellowship of the Open Bible church is stocked with free kids clothing. For those families affected by the recent flooding, they can help with clothing, wipes, and diapers. They will be open on Wednesday, June 26th from 9am to noon and the 2nd Saturday of the month. Leave a message at (605) 624-2921 and we will call back to answer questions.
local resources
The Vermillion Community Care Center located at 9 Court Street is a one-stop-shop resource center that addresses the needs of the community members by coordinating the efforts of local organizations. The Salvation Army, United Way, Tanager Takeout, ROCS, The Evan Project Diaper Bank, and Food Pantry is all located under one roof. The Welcome Table offers a free prepared meal every Monday evening starting at 5:15 pm - 6:45 pm. The Vermillion Goodwill and Civic Council offer used clothing and household items.
The Salvation Army Emergency Services Site provides emergency assistance for the following:
- Disconnection notices for water, lights, and heating
- Eviction notices
- Transportation - stranded motorist, medical appointments (gasoline), one-way bus tickets
- Emergency lodging for one night
- Groceries/meals
- Clothing needs
- Prescription assistance
The Vermillion Ministerial Association is a supporter of the Vermillion Salvation Army.
