Pulse of Life Kids Care child care center exists to offer exceptional day care in an early childhood education environment that provides guided spiritual formation, artistic expression, physical development, social exploration, and teaching from a biblical worldview.
We value children, faith, family, community, and the integration of exceptional day care with scriptural truths. We encourage children in faith, to use their gifts and talents with God’s grace at our child care center in Vermillion.
Together, we cultivate healthy relationships among parents, staff, and children to faithfully and lovingly serve our neighbors and those entrusted in our child care center in Vermillion. We provide a safe, loving, and joyful day care space for children to learn and grow.
Registration is open for the 2024-2025 school year in Vermillion. We accept families enrolled in the SD state Child Care Assistance program.
Normal hours of operation for the child care center are 7:15 am to 5:45 pm Monday - Friday. We are closed on major holidays. While full-time children receive admission preference to our day care, we offer some flexible scheduling options in Vermillion.
Pulse of Life Kids Care in Vermillion is a a SD licensed child care center #018043136 under the State of South Dakota Department of Social Services. Pulse of Life Kids Care is an approved day care for 43 children from 3 mo to 12 yrs old.
Pulse of Life Kids Care in Vermillion was awarded a $227,100 state child care center start up grant in 2023 from the South Dakota Department of Social Services in May 2023 to bring the existing building up to current day care licensing state and local codes for fire, health, and safety. In 2024, Pulse of Life Church was awarded $60,000 from VCDC through the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) childcare expansion grant to add more classrooms for infant and toddler care.
Our full-day infant day care class provides children between the ages of 3 and 10 months with warm, nurturing care and age-appropriate social learning opportunities. As children grow and begin exploring the world around them, the class uses a play-based approach to engage young minds with a rich blend of fine and gross motor activities, tummy time, indoor and outdoor play, story and circle time, music, sensory activities, and social interactions. Our child care center teacher ratio is 5 to 1.
Our full-day 10 to 20-month-old day care class provides children with age-appropriate, social learning opportunities. The program uses our play-based approach, which engages young minds with a rich blend of music, art, play, and social interactions. Our early childhood staff develops life-enhancing skills while providing for the foundation of your child’s development. Primary teacher ratio of 5 to 1.
Our full-day 20 to 35 month old day care class provides children with age-appropriate, social learning opportunities. The program uses our play-based approach, which engages young minds with a rich blend of music, art, play, and social interactions. Our early childhood staff develops life-enhancing skills while providing for the foundation of your child’s development. Teacher ratio of 5 to 1.
Our full-day or half-day day care program in Vermillion prepares 3 to 5-year-olds for kindergarten in the way they learn best—through hands-on, play-based instruction. By building on your child’s natural curiosity, we foster cognitive, physical, social, and emotional skills through a variety of engaging activities. Teacher ratio of 5 to 1.

The Pulse of Life Kids Care Center is located in a shared use space with Pulse of Life Church. The church has 7,500 sq. ft. of floor space on two levels sitting on 1.33 acres of land with lots of outdoor green space connected to a playground and a planned 1.8 acre outdoor learning campus. The building was built in 1998 and operated as a medical clinic for 25 years. It was purchased in Spring 2023 as the site for a Foursquare church and daycare offering enriching ministries, outreach, education, and support services for children and families in the Vermillion area.

The Pulse of Life Kids Care Center has added 1.86 acres in YR2025 for an outdoor pre-k learning campus located at 1200 E. Main Street. Total outdoor space is over 2.5 acres. Little Explorers Outdoor Learning Center is a vibrant setting to teach children about land stewardship and creation care. Gardening offers practical lessons in biology, ecology, and environmental science and children learn about plant life cycles and the importance of sustainable practices. Growing vegetables and fruits educates children about healthy eating habits and where their food comes from, encouraging better dietary choices. Gardening is a fun way for children to get physical exercise and promote well-being.

Rev. Sarah Armbrust, Lead Teacher, Asst. Director, has a B.S. in Education. She pastors along with her husband at Faith Fellowship of the Open Bible. Her favorite scripture is Romans 8:28 "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." Her favorite hobby is spending time with her husband, Rev. Tony Armbrust, and their 4 children. Her goal as director is to foster an atmosphere where God's love is felt by families and staff and where learning about God and His glorious creation is exciting for all within our childcare center.
Rev, Dr. Angela K. Jackson-Pulse, Director, holds an Ed.D. in educational administration and MA in Christian Thought. She is lead pastor at Pulse of Life Church. Her favorite verse is Psalm 17:8 "Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings." Her favorite hobby is organic gardening. Her goal as a director is fostering an environment where staff and children can learn about and grow in their faith, promoting the intellectual and developmental growth of children, leading and supporting a team of teachers, and building strong partnerships.
Ms. Holly Bouza is a lead teacher full-time in our Bumblebee Room for 10-18 month olds. She has degrees in child psychology, educational psychology, and special needs. She is a certified Montessori teacher. She loves spending time with her husband Kyle and 2 children. She attends Riverview Reformed Church in Yankton, Her favorite hobby is reading and taking her children to their many activities. Her favorite Bible quote is Proverbs 11:2. "When price comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom."
Ms. Keira Rettig, assistant teacher for the 1 to 2 year olds, is a Junior at VHS. Keira is also the Asst. Children's Ministry leader. Her favorite subject in high school is History. Her favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11. Her favorite hobby is being outside. Her goal as a teacher is to grow into a better servant of Jesus Christ.
Claire Kumm is an assistant teacher for toddlers. She is a freshman at the University of South Dakota majoring in dental hygiene. She loves God, spending time with her family and kids .Working at Pulse of Life helps me grow my faith, and help care for God's children.
Mr. Elisha Armbrust, Pre-k assistant teacher, graduated from VHS in 2024. His favorite subject in school is contemporary literature. His favorite hobby is drawing/animating and hanging out friends. His goal is help kids feel validated and accepted, yet grounded in obedience to help them grow in healthy maturity ready for kindergarten.
I am a junior at USD studying secondary education in both the field of history and special education. My favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:6. Outside of work, my favorite things to do is to play with my pet cat and be out in nature.

Belinda Feekes has over 20 years of experience in daycare operations as interim director, lead teacher, and teacher for a licensed daycare center - Go Kids at Church at the Gate in Sioux Falls, SD. She also over sees pastoral credentialing at Church at the Gate and has served as a church elder along with her husband, Scott.
Iris Dutton has a M.S. Degree in Education and worked in social services in the state of Nebraska for over 2 decades. She and her husband, Mike, lead Joy Ministries in Ponca, NE. She has served on many advisory boards, executive boards, church committees, and led life groups within the Foursquare Church.
Pastor Jamie Elg is the daycare director for Go Kids Daycare and Learning Center located at Church at the Gate in Sioux Falls. He has a bachelor's degree elementary education from Augustana and holds a teacher certification. He has worked with children for 10 years with 5 of those serving at The Gate. His favorite verse is Matthew 6:10. His favorite hobby is swimming. He has three children: Noah, Oliver, and Emma. Jamie is passionate about family and children being raised to be lovers of God and full of the Spirit.
